There are few views as iconic as Tunnel View. This vista is the first glimpse of Yosemite Valley for many park visitors, conveniently and prominently featuring the park's two best-known features: the granite faces of Half Dome and El Capitan. Looking east into the heart of this glacier-carved valley, the view stretches from the forests and meadows that line the Merced River below to the often snowcapped summit of Clouds Rest and the other peaks of the High Sierra that lie in the park's backcountry.
