It's not the highest peak in the Smokies, but it's one of the grandest mountains in all of Southern Appalachians. Rising more than a mile above Gatlinburg, Le Conte's summit requires steep hiking to access. High Top, the mountain's true peak, is wrapped in a forest of spruce and fir, but Myrtle Point and Cliff Top offer wide open Smoky Mountain views from their lofty perches. This view, looking at the mountain from the north, provides a grand panorama of Le Conte and its neighbors, including the popular day-hike destinations of Charlies Bunion and the Smokies' high point: Kuwohi (formerly Clingmans Dome).

Elevations are shown in feet.
