Cartographer's Note »
Mexico's physical setting is as dramatic as its history. Mostly narrow low coastal plains are bordered by rugged mountain ranges on both sides of a high central plateau, with Mexico City cradled in a high-elevation basin under towering volcanoes. North America does not end at the Rio Grande; this is a map for expanding horizons.
